Michigan Paramotor Pictures

These great paramotor pictures taken in Michigan came about in a rather unorthodox fashion. I'm a spur of the moment kind of guy and although my wife likes to plan everything far in advance, I prefer to take things as they come. She's pretty good about letting me, too. :)

I happened to be back in the US for several weeks in the summer of 2011. We had just visited some family and a few churches in Ohio and were heading back to Indiana to prepare for our return trip to Australia.

Angie and I were driving different vehicles (long story) but following each other down the freeway. We stopped for lunch in Elkhart, Indiana, to visit Angie's aunt and cousin. We had a nice lunch, and just when we were saying our goodbyes my cell phone rang.

The call happened to be from a guy I met who was also a powered paraglider pilot. He told me that he was up in Holland, Michigan, at a fly-in and invited me to come up for a few days and fly. Of course you know I wanted to go.

I told Ang about the offer and asked if she'd mind if I abandoned her for the rest of the trip and detoured off up into Michigan. She laughed but agreed that it was an opportunity I shouldn't miss. I'm so glad I didn't!

We had the most beautiful weather and some perfect flying in Michigan! We camped near the Holland airport and had the opportunity to fly over lake Michigan and take some incredible powered paragliding photos.

If you're a paramotor pilot you know that you can't fly all day long. The thermals start acting up during the heat of the day, but I was in luck. There was a fellow at the Holland fly-in who brought along some top of the line jet skis. He was generous enough to let me go out on the water with him and we had a really amazing time.

It was a great way to round out a quick trip to the States. I hope you enjoy these paramotor pictures. It won't be nearly as much as I enjoyed flying in Michigan, but they should give you a little taste of it.
